This 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible has snared a number of awards,
perhaps the most significant of which is the Antique Automobile Club of
Americas Senior Grand National Award.

The subject of a comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration, it boasts a lovely
presentation that will gratify any devotee of Fords classic Baby Birds.
Thunderbirds journey from first concept in early 1952 to its public presentation
in 1954 involved a staggering number of styling exercises, a large cast of design
and engineering talents and even a short-lived cancellation until a last-minute
reprieve; but it seemed to take very little time at all before it was publicly
recognized as a genuine automotive classic. That happened in 1961, when
popular Today Show host Dave Garroway referred to the original Thunderbird
as an American classic.

The Thunderbird debuted for the 1955 model year as a direct competitor to the
Chevrolet Corvette, a mission it accomplished with ease when Ford sold more
than 16,000 in that first year against Corvettes meager total of 700 cars.
In fact, Thunderbird far outsold Corvette in its first three years as Ford Division
General Manager Lewis Crusoes vision of a personal luxury car proved its value
in the ultra-competitive American market. The last of the Baby Birds, the 1957
model is considered by many aficionados as the most stylish manifestation of
that concept, and this show-stopping award winner makes a great case for that
argument. It is beautifully refinished in the original Raven Black and a correctly
restored code-XH Red interior, and it is optioned with power steering and windows,
outside drivers mirror, chromed wire wheels, AM/FM radio, tonneau cover and
both hard and soft tops.

Power comes via a full-dress D-code 4-barrel Thunderbird 312/215 HP V-8
driving a Ford-O-Matic 3-speed transmission. A highly desirable color scheme
